About this data

Methodology: capacity
Definitions11
Identified capacity
Identified capacity at the end of 2024: sum of site capacities from producers' documents or authorities, converted to nutrient. Compared with the USGS country reference.
M01 peak output
No capacity is published for this producer: the figure is its highest annual output over the last ten years, after any closure or major change.
M02 downstream needs
The mine only feeds the company's own fertiliser plant: its capacity is set at the rock needed by that plant at full capacity, without process losses (a lower bound).
M03 annualised runrate
No nameplate is published for the plant in operation: the figure is its latest quarterly run-rate, annualised. The target after expansion is shown separately as a project.
M04 utilisation rate
Calculated from published output and the published utilisation rate.
M05 group minus subsidiary
Calculated: the company's group capacity minus the stated capacities of its other sites.
M06 feed times recovery
Calculated: stated plant feed capacity times the stated recovery.
M07 stated change backcalc
Calculated from the company's stated future capacity and the stated percentage increase.
M08 typical output proxy
The company states only a typical annual output, used as a capacity proxy.
M09 design rate limit
Calculated from the permitted design rate of the limiting processing stage.
R01 run of mine reference
National output is reported as run-of-mine ore and is not comparable with concentrate capacity.

Notes6
  • Identified phosphate rock capacity totals 68.8 Mt P₂O₅ at the end of 2024, against 2024 production of 70.9 Mt P₂O₅.
  • In China, producers without a published capacity add at least 18.4 Mt P₂O₅ of phosphate rock capacity.
  • Capacity: nameplate or stated capacity at the end of 2024, 100% of each site, as published; calculated values are flagged with their method.
  • Potash in K₂O (potassium chloride at 60% K₂O unless a grade is published); phosphate rock in P₂O₅ (published grade, else the USGS national average grade, else 30%).
  • The reference is the USGS facility capacity by country (2024), corrected where it is shown to be wrong; coverage = identified capacity / reference.
  • Production 2024: USGS Minerals Yearbook 2024, except Syria phosphate rock (FertRadar estimate from partners' imports, low confidence).
